LANAP Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure™
Dr. Giardino uses a revolutionary, gentler alternative to traditional periodontal surgery to treat periodontal (gum) disease. Our Laser Periodontal Treatment offers you a significantly less traumatic alternative to traditional periodontal surgery. By removing calculus deposits without cutting and suturing, you will experience a faster, easier recovery with minimal postoperative pain, less bleeding and less swelling. LANAP is the first FDA-cleared technique of its kind. In July 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the LANAP™ protocol, substantiating this method’s claim to “Cementum-mediated new periodontal ligament attachment to the root surface in the absence of long junctional epithelium.” In other words, a better type of healing of the gum tissue to the root.

Cone Beam Tomography or 3D X-rays
In certain cases, Cone Beam Tomography is becoming a standard diagnostic tool for dental implant placement. For your convenience, when necessary we can provide this important new technology for optimal treatment planning, right within our office. Cone Beam Tomography has the potential to limit complications, decrease surgical time, and increase implant placement precision by providing a new level of information. This has the potential to increase the safety level when working close to important oral structures.

Piezoelectric Bone Surgery
In surgery, there is an advantage to having an instrument that is selective in what it can cut. Piezoelectric devices allow for cutting of hard tissue (bone) without cutting soft tissue. This amazing advancement can limit trauma and complications. Dr. Giardino uses the piezoelectric surgery instrument for extraction of teeth, flap surgery, and sinus bone augmentation, otherwise called sinus lift surgery in preparation for placement of dental implants in an area that otherwise would not have adequate bone. This technology can help avoid the need for stitches in some procedures and decrease the invasiveness of other surgical procedures. These qualities of a more gentle surgical technique often result in less swelling and pain after surgery.

Periodontal Testing with MyPerioPath® & MyPerioID® PST®
OralDNA Labs helps dental professionals and their patients use salivary diagnostics to obtain precise evidence about periodontal disease and oral HPV, allowing more accurate diagnosis and, in the case of periodontal disease, more effective treatment.

The MyPerioPath® salivary diagnostic test identifies the type and concentration of specific perio-pathogenic bacteria that are known to cause periodontal disease. MyPerioPath® helps support the clinician with better risk assessment and personalized treatment options for more predictable outcomes. The MyPerioID® PST® test identifies individual genetic susceptibility to periodontal disease and enables the clinician to establish which patients are at increased risk for more severe periodontal infections due to an exaggerated immune response. Again, the test is simple procedure administered chairside.
