Again, welcome to South Hill Periodontics. The specialty of periodontics has historically been described as the foundation of dentistry. As a periodontist my primary goal is to control gum disease, rebuild bone and soft tissue that may have been lost around teeth and to provide a healthy environment for your restorative dental treatment to make your teeth last. When teeth are not able to be saved, my role as a periodontal surgeon is to consider and plan for placement of one or more dental implants to allow for a long term solution. Sometimes the area may need bone grafting and more advanced management of the tissues surrounding the implant. As a specialist I have the training and experience to provide predictable surgical implant care for you.

Dr. Giardino graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1983. He practiced general dentistry while in the Air Force for five years. He obtained his specialty certificate in Periodontics and a Masters degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio and Wilford Hall USAF medical center in 1991. While in San Antonio his research focused on the early stages of developing a vaccine against periodontal disease. He became a Board Certified Diplomat of Periodontics in 1993. Dr. Giardino started South Hill Periodontics in 1994 and Post Falls Periodontics in 2008. He is involved in numerous professional organizations and served as president of the Spokane District dental society in 1999-2000. Dr. Giardino is a past-president of the Western Society of Periodontology, a tripartite organization of periodontists, restorative dentists and dental hygienists.

Dr. Giardino grew up skiing and fishing in the Spokane area and attended Ferris High School. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Biology. He entered the UW School of Dentistry where he pursued extra training in oral surgery and Periodontics, and then operated a dental practice in Seattle for 5 years. Dr. Giardino’s caring personality and focus on patient comfort has made him a favorite of his patients.
Dr. Giardino completed the advanced training in Periodontics residency at the University of Washington. He earned a Master’s of Science in Dentistry, Certificate in Periodontics and dental implants, and training in sedation.
